Auditory Canvas

A blog for the ramblings of my musical life….

Monome….more gear lust *Sigh*

So while looking around for stuff about the Tenori On, I stumbled across something called a monome.

tehn with two fifty six from tehn on Vimeo.

I seriously want one of these….

This thing is pretty incredible. Similar to the Tenori-on in principal (rather the Tenori on is similar to the Menome, given it was created way before), this little glory box does a lot more.

The software is open source, so it means there are several people programing new software for it all the time, with different programs to do different things from sample player/looper/cutters, to synths, sequencers, and arrangers. You can even play games on the thing.

What’s even cooler about this project is that the creators, Brian Crabtree, and Kelli Cain, are very cool, environmental friendly artists.

Product runs for these things are very small, only a few hundred of each unit has been made so far, so they are somewhat niche….
